HobbyBoss 1/700 HMS Astute

There really isn't much to say about this. Much like the Seawolf, it is nicely detailed, has few parts, is simple to build, and doesn't fit very well. Mr. Surfacer 1000 was plundered repeatedly for his gap filling wares, which I guess in this context would be the modelling equivalent of ye olde caulking.

Paint is equally underwhelming, being overall Humbrol gloss black followed by Gunze clear flat after the decals had been put on. Propeller is Humbrol brass and the sticky-out bits on top are tipped in grey and yellow. I have my doubts that the real thing has the same plethora of racing stripes that the model has but at least it makes it a bit less dull.

Models of British submarines are, sadly, few and far between so I'm very glad HobbyBoss took the time and trouble to tool one up, despite it being the size of a malnourished hotdog. Mmmm... submarine....
