Revell Challenger 1 MBT

Another kit from the fine folks at Revell. I used the Extratech etched set to replace the horrible moulded turret bins and added stowage made from lead foil and cigarette paper coated in Tamiya clear. The etched turret bins are a big improvement over the kit items but still aren't quite right. All the pictures I found showed the large bin on the left side to have rounded corners instead of the squared off bin that Extratech provides.

Paint was Humbrol Light Olive & Black with the tarps and thermal cover on the barrel done in Pollyscale Olive Drab. I left off the SFOR decals because Revell printed these in black whereas they should be white or light gray I believe. Final finish is Pollyscale clear flat which, believe it or not, is the only decent acrylic clear flat you can get in the UK now that Gunze is no longer imported.

Above left & right: Oooh... all the nice shiny bits are on. There were some funky little headlight guards in the Extratech set as well but I completely destroyed them so had to use the kit ones. Oops.

Left: The hull is open above the tracks so I blanked these off with sheet plastic which turned out to be a complete waste of time as you really can't see up there with the tracks in place.
